Devontae Cacok and Gary Payton II Named to Midseason All-NBA G League Team

EL SEGUNDO - Los Angeles Lakers two-way forward Devontae Cacok and South Bay Lakers alum Gary Payton II have been named to the Western Conference Midseason All-NBA G League Team, the league announced today.

Cacok has appeared in 22 games (two starts) with South Bay this season, averaging 18.7 points and a league-leading 12.1 rebounds while shooting 66.4 percent from the field in 23.6 minutes per game. He signed a two-way contract with Los Angeles on December 11 and has tallied 18 double-doubles with South Bay. Per 36 minutes, the rookie forward out of UNC Wilmington is averaging 28.6 points, 18.5 rebounds, 1.1 assist and 1.4 steals.

Before receiving an NBA Call-Up with the Washington Wizards on December 23, Payton appeared in 16 games (15 starts) for South Bay, averaging 21.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists, a league-leading 3.1 steals and 1.1 blocks while shooting 57.3 percent from the field in 32.4 minutes per game. He scored in double figures in every game, including nine games with 20+ and three 30-point outings. Payton II tallied 13 double-doubles with South Bay and was named NBA G League Player of the Week on December 16.

NBA G League coaches and general managers voted on the top performers from the first half of the season from their respective conferences, based on the performances of players in games through January 28, 2020. Eligibility for players to be selected was based on having played in 50 percent of their team's games through January 28th and being on an active roster.
