Albany Devils News Release

BINGHAMTON, NY - On the same night that the New Jersey Devils overcame a third period deficit to win in overtime, the Albany Devils fell just short of imitating their NHL affiliate. Harri Pesonen scored a pair of goals, including the tying tally late in the third, but Cole Scheinder scored in overtime to give the Binghamton Senators a 3-2 victory Saturday at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Scott Timmins and Raman Hrabarenka setup Pesonen in the high slot at 13:42 of the third to tie the game and extend the Devils point streak to nine games - tying them with Abbottsford for the longest streak in the AHL this season.

In overtime, Binghamton's Andre Petersson found Schneider atop the crease at 1:08. The OT loss moves Albany to 17-7-2-1, while Binghamton improves to 16-9-0-3.

Pesonen registered his third and fourth goals of the season. Kelly Zajac setup the first tally at 1:44 of the second period to make the score 1-1.

On Albany's second goal, Timmins, who returned to the lineup after being sidelined on Nov. 9, picked up his ninth assist. Hrabarenka extended his point streak eight games with his 10th helper.

Binghamton's Mike Hoffman led all scorers with a goal and an assist. He setup the game's first goal, scored by Mark Stone, at 3:22 of the first. Hoffman made the score 2-1 with a power-play tally at 8:48 of the second.

Keith Kinkaid, who entered the night with the league's best goals-against average (2.03), had his four-game winning streak halted. He made 26 saves. At the other end, Andrew Hammond made 29 stops for the win.

Albany, which saw its winning streak come to an end at six games, outshot Binghamton, 31-29.

The Devils return to action Sunday against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Webster Bank Arena. Fans can follow the 3 pm game online or on mobile devices at ahllive.com.
