
Barons Fall to Stars, 7-2

The Texas Stars scored five unanswered goals in a 7-2 win over the Oklahoma City Barons Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center. Travis Morin led Texas with two goals as the Barons fell to 11-15-0-5, and the Stars improved to 18-9-2-2.
The Stars wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard as Morin scored 23 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead. Ryan Martindale didn't keep the fans waiting on Teddy Bear Toss night as he evened the score 48 seconds later on a feed from Brad Hunt at 1:11.
Texas took a 2-1 lead late in the period as the Stars capitalized on the power play at 18:47 on a goal from Ryan Button. Oklahoma City led in shots 16-12 at the end of the first.
Oklahoma City tied the game at 9:06 of the second period as Will Acton got a shorthanded goal past Christopher Nilstorp. David Musil and Tyler Pitlick earned the assists on the goal. The Stars responded 44 seconds later as Taylor Vause regained the lead at 3-2 while on the power play.
The Stars doubled the lead to 4-2 at 16:35 as Morin got the puck up past Richard Bachman. They then extended that lead out to 5-2 at 17:14 as Mike Hedden got on the board.
Chet Pickard made his AHL debut in relief of Bachman at the start of the third period.
Toby Petersen gave the Stars a 6-2 lead at 16:06 of the third period and Chris Mueller made it 7-2 at 16:46.
The Barons return to action Dec. 27-28 against the Abbotsford Heat. Both games are set for 9 p.m. CT starts and can be heard locally on 96.1 KXY. Oklahoma City's next home game is New Year's Eve against the Texas Stars at 7 p.m. CT
