Midwest Division Showdown Tonight
December 21, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill. - Midwest Division games have been a little tough on the Rockford IceHogs so far in 2013-14 as the club shows an overall record of 5-7-0-0 against their division foes. The IceHogs (15-12-3-0) will have a chance to improve that mark tonight as they host the Milwaukee Admirals (13-7-4-1) at the BMO Harris Bank Center at 7 p.m.
The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a special edition "Champions Bobblehead" of Bryan Bickell, courtesy of Dental Dimensions. The bobblehead is the first in a series of three that will feature Brandon Saad (Feb. 8) and Andrew Shaw (Apr. 12).
For tickets to tonight's game, or any IceHogs home game, call (815) 968-5222, visit IceHogs.com or stop by the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office or any Ticketmaster outlet.
Tonight's game can be seen live in the Rockford area on WIFR's 23.2 Antenna TV, Comcast Cable channel 436, Charter 970, or Mediacom 101 beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the pre-game show, "IceHogs Warm-up."
The Hogs have been much better on home ice against their Midwest Division rivals, picking up four of their five wins at the BMO Harris Bank Center. One of the wins came against the Admirals in their last meeting back on Nov. 27 when Mark McNeill tallied 2:15 into overtime to give the Hogs a 2-1 win.
The showdown with Milwaukee tonight is the third of 12 meetings on the campaign. Rockford shows an all-time record of 37-24-2-3 against the Admirals, including 18-12-1-2 at the BMO.
McNeill has been the leading point producer for the IceHogs against Milwaukee, posting two goals and an assist in their two matchups on the season. Overall, McNeill is tied for the team-lead with nine goals on the campaign and ranks third in points with 18 through 30 games.
Fans are encouraged to bring gently used or new sports equipment to today's game as the IceHogs and ESPN 1380 wrap up their equipment drive. All the equipment will be collected and donated to the Stateline Boys and Girls Club. Each fan that donates will receive a special buy-one, get-one free ticket offer for any home game through January 10.
Next Home Game: Friday, Dec. 27 vs. Grand Rapids Griffins. Puck drop is 7 p.m. when the IceHogs battle the top team in the Midwest Division.
