Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - Forward Kevin DeVergilio has been reassigned to Idaho by the AHL's Texas Stars and is expected to accompany the team to Bakersfield and Ontario this weekend.

The 23-year-old was recalled by Idaho's AHL affiliate one week ago and appeared in one game with Texas. He has skated in nine games with the Stars on the season, collecting one assist along the way.

"Kevin is really starting to find his way as a professional hockey player," head coach Derek Laxdal said of his rookie forward. "He's got a lot of pure ability and we're glad to have him back in the lineup."

DeVergilio has 16 points (9 goals, 7 assists) in 17 games with the Steelheads, including a hot stretch just before his recall to Texas that saw him put up three goals and four assists in three games against Victoria and Utah earlier this month.

The Steelheads (27-11-2) play at Bakersfield Friday and Saturday night before a Sunday game in Ontario, CA.

Note: Defenseman Riley Weselowski requested and was granted his release by Laxdal so he could pursue other playing options. Weselowski was in his second season with the Steelheads, totaling three goals and 11 assists in 60 total games with the team.

Idaho returns home February 10 to begin a three-game series against the Utah Grizzlies. Tickets are available at the Qwest Arena box office or by calling 208.331.TIXS. Group outings are a great way to get friends, family, co-workers, or colleagues together to enjoy a night out at great savings over walk-up ticket prices.
