Johnstown Chiefs News Release
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs, who will be hosting their third annual Pink in the Rink event, unveiled today the special pink-themed jerseys that they will don Friday night.
In an effort to raise money and awareness in the fight against breast cancer the Chiefs have hosted Pink in the Rink events since the 2007-08 season. This year's event promises to be the most memorable one to date. On top of the special jerseys, which will be auctioned off, the Chiefs are giving away pink t-shirts to the first 2,000 fans in attendance, and proceeds from the night's walk up sales will be donated to the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center.
This year the jerseys will be auctioned off via silent auction. Fans wanting to bid on jerseys will need to visit the auction table located just inside the front gate next to the information table. There they will fill out a registration sheet with contact information and payment method, and be given an ID card, with their name on it, that will be presented when placing bids.
Bidding on the Pink in the Rink jerseys will begin at $200 and a minimum of $10 is required for successive bids. Fans can register and begin placing bids when the gates open at 6:00 p.m. ET, while the bidding will close at the 10:00 mark of the third period. Winners will be announced at the final promotional time out (first whistle after 7:00 mark) and after the final horn will meet at the Chiefs' entrance to the ice surface to claim their prize from their favorite player. Payment on winning bids must be made at the end of the auction and the Chiefs will accept cash, check, or credit cards from winning bidders.
