Former Goaltender Holtby Recalled To Washington

North Charleston, SC -The Washington Capitals announced today that they have called up former Stingrays goaltender Braden Holtby from the Hershey Bears of the AHL.

Holtby, 20, has posted a 15-2-1 record with Hershey and leads the AHL with a 1.82 goals-against average and ranks third with a.935 save percentage. While with the Stingrays, Holtby earned a 7-2-1-2 record with a 2.95 goals-against average and a.911 save percentage. He also made an appearance as a backup for the Capitals on October 17 against Nashville.

A 2010 ECHL All-Star, Holtby was the Capitals' fourth-round choice, 93rd overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He is available for tonight's game against Anaheim and will wear number 70.

The Stingrays head out on a seven-game road trip starting Friday, January 29 against the Cincinnati Cyclones at 7:30 p.m. at U.S. Bank Arena.
