
DeSalvo transferred to Trenton

(Trenton, NJ) - The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced that RHP Matt DeSalvo has been transferred to Trenton from the Columbus Clippers of the International League.
DeSalvo was 1-6 with a 7.68 ERA in 11 games for Columbus, including eight starts. During 2005, he had a 9-5 record with a 3.02 in 25 games, including 24 starts for Trenton. He finished third in the Eastern League in ERA and third in strikeouts with 151.
DeSalvo was selected to the 2005 Eastern League All-Star Team. He won two Eastern League "Pitcher of the Week" awards during 2005 (5/11-5/18, 7/11-7/17). DeSalvo is the 16th rated prospect by Baseball America in the Yankees minor league system.
DeSalvo was signed by the Yankees as a free agent on May 15, 2003. He was a Division III All-American at Marietta College (OH). He has the Division III record for wins (53) and strikeouts (603). He was Baseball America's Small College "Player of the Year" in 2003.
The Thunder conclude a three game series against the Bowie Baysox tonight at Waterfront Park. Game time is set for 7:05 PM. Philip Hughes (2-2, 4.98) starts for Trenton against Bowie's James Johnson (5-3, 4.23).
