Demarski Beats Express with OT Game-Winner

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl capitalized with a powerplay goal from MATT DEMARSKI in overtime, and beat the Roanoke Express 3-2 in front of 5,484 at the BI-LO Center Saturday afternoon.

The Grrrowl opened a 1-0 lead when CHRIS LYNCH beat goaltender Evan Lindsay at 11:01 of the first period. The Express tied the game at 1-1 with a powerplay goal from Dan Carlson at 1:28 of the second period, and then took their first lead with a goal from Rick Kowalsky at 9:03 of period two. MARTIN MASA tied the game at 2-2 with his 17th goal of the season at 14:30 of the second period. Masa made a great move inside the Roanoke blueline, then fired the shot past Lindsay to tie the game.

After a scoreless third period, MATT DEMARSKI scored the game-winning goal just :25 second into overtime to give the Grrrowl the 3-2 victory. The goal snapped an 18-game goal-scoring drought for Demarski, who last scored a goal in a 4-3 shootout win over Coulmbus on January 19th. MICHAEL GARNETT stopped 29 of 31 shots for the victory, as Greenville outshot Roanoke 40-31.

The Grrrowl remain home to host the Augusta Lynx on Monday night at 7:05 PM (Newsradio 1330 & 950, WORD). The game was postponed from February 16th because of poor weather conditions.
