Delmas Leads Nailers over Stingrays

Wheeling, WV -Goaltender Peter Delmas registered his second shutout of the season (17 saves) as the Wheeling Nailers (34-28-0-3) blanked the South Carolina Stingrays (35-27-2-3) 3-0 Saturday night at WesBanco Arena.

Nailers forward Chris Kushneriuk broke open the scoring at 16:56 of the first period sliding a shot under the left pad of Stingrays goaltender Shane Owen. Forwards Paul Crowder and Doug Rogers earned assists.

The Nailers added two more goals in the middle period to complete the game scoring. Forward Joey Haddad netted his 16 of the season at 10:09 from Crowder and Kushneriuk. Moments later, Haddad battled around the Stingrays defense to lift a shot over the right shoulder of Owen on the power play at 13:56. Crowder and defenseman Trevor Hunt recorded assists.

Owen received the loss stopping 18 of 21 Nailers shots. The Stingrays finished the night 0-for-4 on the power play while the Nailers went 1-for-5.
