Ontario Reign News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, lost 5-2 to the Bakersfield Condors before a crowd of 5,509 at Rabobank Arena Saturday night.
Justin Taylor put the Reign up 1-0 just 43 seconds into the contest. Shawn Germain's shot hit Bakersfield goaltender Jim Watt in the chest and fell to the crease, where Taylor poked it in for his eighth goal of the season. Vyacheslav Trukhno's 5-on-3 power-play goal at 6:32 tied the game at one.
Adam Naglich gave the Condors a 2-1 lead with a short-handed goal at 3:18 of the second period. Alex Bourret's goal at 19:03 tied the game at two. Bourret moved into the low slot and hammered home Kyle Kraemer's feed from the end wall for his 10th goal of the season. However, the Condors regained the lead 11 seconds later on a disputed goal by Joel Broda. The goal light came on, but there was no signal from the referee. After some discussion, officials ruled it a goal and Bakersfield went to the intermission leading 3-2.
Broda and Trukhno each scored their second goals of the game in the third period, and the Condors went on to defeat the Reign by a final score of 5-2.
Beau Erickson turned aside 39 shots in the loss while Jim Watt got the win in his first professional start with 23 saves.
