Lexington Legends News Release

Delmarva starter Kenny Moreland allowed two hits in eight innings as the Shorebirds won their third straight game over Lexington and sixth in a row overall with a 7-1 victory Saturday night in Salisbury, Maryland.

Delmarva scored a run in the bottom of the first inning when Gary Helmick doubled, went to third on a sacrifice and scored on a wild pitch by Lexington starter Brad Dydalewicz.

The Shorebirds broke the game open in the third, when they sent 11 batters to the plate. A walk to Jason Stifler and a double by Helmick plated one run. Helmick went to third on a wild pitch, and Ty Kelly walked. Helmick held third as Kelly went to second on a wild pitch, and after Kieron Pope struck out, both runners scored on a double by Tyler Stampone. A single by Levi Carolus scored Stampone to give Delmarva a 5-0 lead. Steve Bumbry was hit by pitch, sending Carolus to second, from where he scored on a single by Garabez Rosa. After Arcenio Leon relieved Dydalewicz, Stifler, batting for the second time in the inning, singled Bumbry home, making the score 7-0.

The Legends scored their only run in the eighth inning when Kody Hinze doubled, went to third on an infield out by Miguel Arrendell and scored on a passed ball charged to Stifler, the catcher.

Moreland (3-2), the winning pitcher, walked one and struck out four. Dydalewicz (0-1) took the loss.

The Legends and Shorebirds will wrap up the series, and the first half of the South Atlantic League season, with a 2:05 p.m. game Sunday.
