Braves Offense Comes Alive

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Charleston RiverDogs 11-6 in front of 3,665 fans Saturday night at State Mutual Stadium for their third consecutive win. The Braves offense posted 16 hits on the night with every player picking up at least one hit.

Rome took the early lead in the first inning 2-0. Kyle Rose and Cory Harrilchak had back-to-back singles and Jake Hanson followed with a two-RBI triple. The Braves added three runs in the second to extend their lead to 5-0. Chris Lovett reached on an error and Rose was hit by a pitch and Harrilchak (1) followed with a three run homerun.

Charleston added a run in the third on a Jimmy Paredes double to left to score JR Murphy then another run in the fourth on a Murphy sacrifice fly to plate Kelvin Castro to make the score 5-2.

The Braves scored in the fifth inning when Jace Whitmer singled and scored on a Christian Bethancourt RBI single. Rome extended their lead to 7-2 in the sixth on a double from Lovett who then scored on a groundout off the bat of Harrilchak who had four RBI in the game.

The RiverDogs chipped away at the Braves lead with a run in the seventh and three additional runs in the eighth but Rome would answer with four runs on four hits in the eighth for the 11-6 final.

Brett DeVall (3-5) picks up the win for Rome while Charleston's Sean Black (4-6) gets the loss. Julio Surinach picks up the save for the Braves.
