Defenseman Luka Vidmar Joins Stingrays

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Luka Vidmar. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Vidmar, 26, skated in 58 games with the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL last season earning three goals and 18 assists for 21 points. Before Colorado, the Ljubljana, Slovenia, native had a brief stint with the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL) earning no points in three contests. Prior to turning pro, Vidmar attended the University of Alaska-Anchorage for four seasons totaling 33 points (six goals, 27 assists) in 114 games and was a three-time WCHA All-Academic Team selection.

The 6-foot-1, 192-pound defenseman has also dressed for the Slovenia U-18, U-20 and men's national team earning bronze medals in 2003 and 2006, a silver medal in 2005 and a gold medal in 2010.
