Spokane Indians News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - Darius Day hit a hard line drive to left field to score Yeyson Yrizarri in the 12th inning to give the Spokane Indians a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canadians on Friday night in front of 5,582 fans at Avista Stadium. It was Wildfire Community Relief Night presented by The Spokesman-Review and 98.9 KKZX.
Yrizarri led off the 12th with a deep double to center field, and Dean Long was intentionally walked to set the table for Day. It was Day's first walk-off hit ever. The Chicago native finished 1-of-3 with two walks, a hit-by-pitch and one run scored.
LeDarious Clark nearly stole the show with an inside-the-park home run. In the 5th inning, Clark hit a double to center field, scoring two runs to tie the game. An error by Vancouver outfielder Earl Burl III allowed Clark to advance to third and round the base. Clark then tripped up and was tagged out before scoring the run. The Indians centerfielder finished 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.
Tyler Davis earned his second win of the season allowing just one hit in the game's final two innings. Starter Peter Fairbanks threw five innings and allowed the two runs while striking out five. Seth Lintz and Luis Parra combined for the middle five innings, striking out six.
