
Hawks Offense Dormant Against Volcanoes

Keizer, Oregon - The Hawks led early thanks to RBI hits from Kevin Padlo and Marcos Derkes but could not hold on as they dropped the game and the series to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes by a score of 4-2.
The Hawks wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, plating one run in the first inning when Kevin Padlo ripped an RBI double that scored Marcos Derkes.
The Volcanoes responded in the bottom half of the inning and took the lead, scoring two runs on a Steven Duggar RBI double and a Miguel Gomez RBI single off Hawks starting pitcher, Dylan Craig.
Craig made his fourth start of the season and pitched five strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits with one strikeout.
The score remained until the seventh inning when Derkes ripped an RBI single that scored Wilkyns Jimenez and tied the game at 2-2.
The Volcanoes once again answered right back, scoring two runs on a Ronnie Jebavi two-out RBI single to take a 4-2 lead.
In the ninth inning, the Hawks brought the tying run to the plate but could not score as they fell to the Volcanoes in the final game of the series by a score of 4-2.
The Hawks (14-17) will use the off day tomorrow to travel back to Boise before beginning a three game series against the Hillsboro Hops (18-13) on Tuesday.
Notes: The Hawks hit five doubles on the night... Nate Causey stole his first base of the season... Marcos Derkes went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI... Dylan Thompson picked up his third loss of the season.
