AUSTIN, TX - Eric Dawson scored a season-high 26 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and the Austin Toros defeated the Albuquerque Thunderbirds 117-111 on Thursday night at the Austin Convention Center. Austin defeated Albuquerque for the second time in three nights and six in a row over their Southwest Division rivals.
The Toros used a 17-6 surge to begin the fourth quarter and built as many as a 13-point lead late in the quarter. A pair of 3-point baskets by Keith McLeod kept the Thunderbirds close late in the period but perfect free throw shooting in the quarter iced the game for Austin.
Jasper Johnson scored a team-high 35 points for Albuquerque on 13-of-18 from the field. Will Conroy finished with 22 points, seven assists in 45 minutes of action and David Noel added 20 points.
Austin featured four players scoring in double figures. Marcus Williams had 22 points and Carldell Johnson scored 20. Nate Brown pitched in a season-high 20 points off the bench for the Toros, who improved to an NBA D-League best record of 24-9.
The Toros return to the Austin Convention Center on March 10 to face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants after a three game road trip to face Southwest Division rivals. For more information, please call 512-236-8333 or visit austintoros.com.
