Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING, Mich. - D.J. Davis tied a franchise record with eight RBIs and the Lansing Lugnuts (34-24) finished their six-game homestand with a 12-4 victory against the Peoria Chiefs (27-31) Monday at Cooley Law School Stadium.

Davis's eight RBIs ties him with Ryan Gripp for the most a Lugnuts player has had in a game. Gripp had eight RBIs on April 15, 2000.

In total, Davis was 4-for-5 with a three-RBI double in the third, a grand slam in the fifth, and an RBI double in the sixth. His grand slam was the Lugs' first of the season.

The former first-round pick drove in his eight RBIs against three Peoria pitchers: three against starter Matt Pearce (Loss, 3-6), four against Tyler Bray, and one against Julio Mateo.

Davis's offense aided the MWL's wins leader Shane Dawson (Win, 8-3), who worked five innings, allowed three runs, and struck out six.

After Dawson, Tim Mayza relieved for two innings and allowed a run. Dusty Isaacs pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth.

Besides Davis's offense, Lansing's Jason Leblebijian mashed a two-run home run, the second straight day he's homered.

Ryan McBroom finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, extending his on-base streak to 10 straight games.

After a league-wide off day Tuesday, the Lugnuts start a three-game series against Quad Cities. On Wedneday, Starlyn Suriel (3-3, 2.85 ERA) toes the rubber for the Lugs, with first pitch scheduled for 8:00 p.m.

The Lugnuts' next homestand runs from June 16-21 with games against Bowling Green and Great Lakes. For more information, call (517) 485-4500 or visit lansinglugnuts.com.
