
Bees Swept at Great Lakes

(Midland-MI)- The Burlington Bees saw three run lead slip away, losing their third in a row in a 4-3 loss to the Great Lakes Loons on Monday night in Midland, Michigan.
Trevor Gretzky picked up the first hit of the game, lining a single to right center, with one out in the top of the third, and moved to second on a balk. After Jake Yacinich lined out to center, Erick Salcedo slapped a single to left, scoring Yacinich, giving the Bees a 1-0 lead.
Zach Houchins started things in the top of the fourth, scortching a single to center. Later in the inning, Caleb Adams, socked a two run home run to right, scoring Houchins, extending the Bees' lead to 3-0.
Just like the first two games, Great Lakes put together a rally. Julian Leon, Jacob Scavuzzo, and Spencer Navin singled, back-to-back-to-back to load the bases. Faustino Oguisten hit a ground ball to Erick Salcedo at third, who threw to the plate, retiring Leon for the first out. Alex Vergudo got the Loons on the board, grounding into a fielders' choice, scoring Scavuzzo, cutting the Bees' lead to 3-1. After Specer Navin cut the lead to 3-2 on a wild pitch, Johan Mieses, tripled to right, scoring Verdugo, tying the game at three.
Andrew Daniel tried to start a Bees' rally, crushing a double to right center to open the sixth. After Daniel moved to third on a balk, Houchins and Delgado both grounded out to first and Celeb Adams flew out to center, stranding Daniel.
Josmer Cordero caught the Bees off gaurd with a bunt single to start the bottom of the sixth inning. Jake Jewell retired the next two hitters before giving up a bloop single, placing runners at the corners. Spencer Navin reached on an infield single and an error, scoring Cordero, putting the Loons on top, 4-3.
The Bees got two straight hits to start the eighth inning, by Salcedo and Daniel but could not score. With two outs in the ninth, Ryan Seiz walked and was pinch ran for by Muchael Hermosillo, who moved to third on a Trevor Gretzky single to right. Jose Molina (1) would get Jake Yacinich to ground out, finishing to game, picking up the save as the Bees lost, 4-3. Kevin Guzman (4-4) picked up the win, while Jake Jewell (3-2) was chaged with the loss.
The Bees return home to start a six game home stand, begining a three game series with the South Bend Cubs, Wednesday night at Community Field.
