Davies Returns to Gwinnett; Dorich Signed

Forward Michael Davies has been assigned to the Gwinnett Gladiators from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. In a separate transaction, the Gladiators have signed defenseman Alan Dorich.

Davies returns to Gwinnett where he earned six points (one goal, five assists) and was a +3 in six games with the Gladiators this season before being recalled to Chicago on November 3rd.

The Chesterfield, Missouri, native has recorded six points (two goals, four assists) in 12 games with Chicago this season.

Davies set a career-high with 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) in 41 games as a senior with the University of Wisconsin last season. His 52 points last year shared sixth in scoring in the NCAA. He ranked second on the Badgers with a career-best 20 goals and third with a career-high 32 assists.

He made his professional debut in three Calder Cup playoff games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL after Wisconsin was defeated in the 2010 NCAA National Championship game. Davies earned 123 points (54 goals, 69 assists) and 122 penalty minutes in 155 career collegiate games with Wisconsin from 2006-10.

Dorich joins Gwinnett after he tallied on assist in two games with Wheeling and did not record a point in three games with Kalamazoo this season.

A rookie out of Northern Michigan University, Dorich collected 17 assists in 136 career collegiate games in the CCHA.

Davies and Dorich should be available for the Gladiators on Friday as Gwinnett battles the Wheeling Nailers at the Cambria War Memorial in Johnstown, PA at 7:30 p.m.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
