South Carolina Stingrays News Release
Reading, PA -Rookie David de Kastrozza netted three points (2g, 1a) and goaltender Todd Ford recorded his 11th professional shutout as the South Carolina Stingrays (10-12-1-0) blanked the Reading Royals (13-8-0-0) 4-0 at the Sovereign Center Thursday night.
The Stingrays broke open the scoring late in the first period as de Kastrozza slipped a wrist shot over the right shoulder of Royals goaltender Matt Dalton from the bottom of the left-wing circle from forwards Rob Ricci and Pierre-Luc O'Brien.
de Kastrozza buried his sixth goal of the season and second of the night at 3:27 of the second frame from Ricci to give the Stingrays a 2-0 lead heading into the second intermission.
O'Brien added a goal of his own at 2:55 of the final period from de Kastrozza and defenseman Zach Jones. Moments later, forward Grant McNeill slapped home his first of the season past Dalton at 4:25 from forward Jordan Pietrus and defenseman Dylan Yeo.
Dalton suffered the loss stopping 24 of 28 Stingrays shots. Ford improved to 5-3-0 kicking away all 26 Royals chances. The Stingrays finished the night 0-for-5 on the power play while Reading went 0-for-3.
