Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced that rookie left winger Jesse Gimblett has been recalled from the Thunder to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League and defenseman Daryl Marcoux (Mar-koo) has been activated off the seven-day injured reserve list.
Gimblett, 25, will be available to make his AHL season debut when the Barons return to play tomorrow at 5:05 p.m., hosting the Manitoba Moose.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward leads Thunder rookies with five goals and has scored eight points (5g-3a) in 15 games, totaling 23 penalty minutes. He made his professional debut on an amateur tryout contract with the Springfield Falcons last season, collecting one assist and six penalty minutes in four AHL games.
Gimblett previously skated in 114 career games through four seasons (2006-10) in college with the University of Alberta, scoring 92 points (49g-43a) and posting 156 penalty minutes. Last season, he scored a career-high 17 goals and 28 points (17g-11a) in 25 games.
The Barons are the AHL affiliate of the Thunder and Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League. Gimblett's recall comes one day after Edmonton recalled forwards Linus Omark and Ryan O'Marra from Oklahoma City.
Marcoux has suited up in 15 games for the Thunder this season, collecting three assists and six penalty minutes.
A two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons, was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine for the third straight year, and drew over 200,000 fans for the fifth consecutive season in 2009-10. Season Tickets, mini-plans and individual tickets for 2010-11 are on sale now.
