Goaltender Ben Scrivens Assigned to Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Ben Scrivens has been re-assigned by the Maple Leafs from the Marlies to the Royals. In a separate transaction, the Royals released Emergency Back-Up Goaltender Brent Troyan.

This is Scrivens' fourth assignment from Toronto to Reading. Scrivens was recalled to the Marlies on Tuesday, and he played in last night's 5-1 loss for the Marlies to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. In that game, he came on in substitution at the start of the second period with the Marlies trailing 3-1. Scrivens, who was not the goaltender of decision, allowed two goals on twenty-two shots in 39:58 of game time. In three games played for the Marlies this season, Scrivens is 2-0-0 with a 2.20 goals against average and .934 save percentage. In nine games for the Royals, Scrivens has compiled a 6-3-0-0 record, and he is currently riding a five game winning streak for Reading. Scrivens' 2.25 goals against average is third best in the ECHL, and his .936 save percentage currently leads the league.

The Royals face the South Carolina Stingrays tonight (Thursday, December 9, 2010 @ 7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center for the third time this season.
