Las Vegas, Nev.-The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Ontario Reign on Wednesday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena in front of 5,917. Goaltender Michael Ouzas earned his seventh win of the season as the Wranglers improve to 6-1-1 on the road. Las Vegas went 2 for 6 on the power play while holding the Reign scoreless on their five chances. Barry Goers led the way with a goal and two assists and Tyler Mosienko scored twice. Geoff Paukovich, Matt Price, and Jamie Bates all tallied a goal and an assist in the win. Ontario goaltender Kellen Briggs earned his league leading eleventh loss as the Reign fall off their two game win streak. Ontario falls to 8-12-1 on the season while Las Vegas improves to 11-4-2 carrying their current point streak into the weekend.
The Wranglers opened and closed the scoring by tallying the games first three and last two goals. Jamie Bates tallied a power play goal at 1:09 with assists from Ryan Huddy and Craig Switzer. Las Vegas netted their second power play goal at 2:36 when Matt Price beat Kellen Briggs assisted by Jamie Bates and Blake Gallagher. Vegas' third goal of the first period came at 6:34 when Dan Bertram scored assisted by Justin Bernhardt. Ontario answered back at 11:43 when Dusty Collins found the back of the net unassisted. After the first period Las Vegas was ahead 3-1.
The Wranglers tallied their first shorthanded goal of the season at 14:25 of the second period when Tyler Mosienko found the back of the net assisted by Greg Collins and Barry Goers. Ontario answered back again at 15:37 when Jordan Morrison scored assisted by Justin Taylor and Shawn Collymore. After two periods the Wranglers were ahead by a count of 4-2.
Barry Goers kept the momentum going for Las Vegas tallying at 5:37 of the third period with assists going to Matt Price and Geoff Paukovich. Ontario cut into the lead again at 7:29 when Chaz Johnson found the back of the net assisted by Michael Pelech and Justin Taylor. The Wranglers added two more goals from Tyler Mosienko at 16:25 and Geoff Paukovich at 19:34 to seal the win.
The Wranglers return home to host the Idaho Steelheads on Friday, December 10th, and Saturday, December 11th.
The Las Vegas Wranglersé are the ECHL affiliate to the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes and the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.
