David Wright to Continue Rehab on Tuesday

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - New York Mets third baseman and captain David Wright will continue his rehab assignment with the St. Lucie Mets on Tuesday at Tradition Field.

The Mets host the Bradenton Marauders at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Followers of @stlucimets on Twitter can show proof on their smart phones at the box office and get a ticket for $2. The box office opens at 10 a.m.

Tuesday is also Silvers Sluggers Night and Baseball Bingo.

It is unknown at this time if Wright will play on Wednesday at Tradition Field vs. the Marauders. Wednesday's contest also starts at 6:30 p.m. It is All You Can Eat and a Seat for $15.

So far Wright has played in four rehab games for St. Lucie. He is 4 for 14 with four singles, two runs scores, two walks and three strikeouts. He has played third base in three of the games and was the DH in one.

Wright played eight games for New York this season before landing on the disabled list with a hamstring strain. While recovering from the injury, Wright was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and he has yet to return to the majors.

The last time Wright played for St. Lucie was in a rehab stint in 2011. He played in six games and went 10 for 21 with three doubles.

Wright was a fulltime member of the St. Lucie Mets in 2003. That season he played in 133 games and hit .270. He led the Florida State League with 39 doubles and was voted to the FSL All Star team.

In 2013 Wright was inducted into the Florida State League Hall of Fame. He is the only member of the FSL Hall of Fame to play in a FSL game after his induction.
