Daytona Beach, FL - The Daytona Tortugas (30-18, 67-51) took a 3-0 loss to the Brevard County Manatees (21-27, 50-67) in Game 1 of Monday night's doubleheader at Radiology Associates Field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Game 2 was postponed due to rain, and will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Wednesday night in Daytona Beach. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. at The Jack.

Jorge Ortega (W, 9-8) threw a complete game shutout for the Manatees in Game 1, allowing just four singles and no walks while striking out seven batters.

The Tortugas' only opportunity came in the third inning, when singles from 3B Ronald Bueno and 1B Brian O'Grady put runners on the corners with one out. During 2B Wendell Soto's at bat, O'Grady broke for second. Catcher Rafael Neda threw down as Bueno broke for the plate from third base. Stephen Halcomb cut off the throw from shortstop, and fired back to the plate to get Bueno.

The Tortugas were held to one infield single the rest of the way. After four one-hit innings from RHP Jackson Stephens (L, 12-6), the Manatees broke through with a run in the fifth. Taylor Brennan singled, Michael Ratterree walked and Halcomb drove in a run with a double to left.

Back-to-back homers from Clint Coulter and Garrett Cooper gave the Manatees a 3-0 lead in the sixth. Stephens finished after 5.2 innings, having allowed his first runs in over 23 frames. He gave up six hits, walked a batter, and struck out three. Stephens gave up his first homer since June 14, and took his first loss since June 27.

The teams will return to Brevard County on Tuesday night for a 6:35 p.m. matchup at Space Coast Stadium. Fans can listen to the action on AM 1230 and AM 1490 WSBB, starting with the D.B. Pickles Pregame Show at 6:20 p.m.
