DASH SNAP RECORD EIGHT-GAME SKID Winston-Salem snapped its Dash era-long eight-game losing streak with a 7-3 victory over the Keys on Monday night in Maryland. The Dash benefitted from three Travis Adair errors, which led to four unearned runs. Three of those tallies came in the third inning, and the Dash led from that frame through the rest of the game. Kevan Smith drove home a pair of runs, while Chris Curley hit a solo shot in the seventh. Winston-Salem starter Mike Recchia struck out seven over five innings for his first career High-A win.

WIN COLUMN, THE DASH MISSED YOU Before Monday's victory, Winston-Salem had dropped eight consecutive games for the first time in the Dash era (2009-present). The Dash lost those eight contests by a combined 12 runs, with six of them coming in one-run tilts. Since August 6, Winston-Salem has dropped 12 of 14 contests, and nine of those defeats have come by one or two runs. The Dash are 20-37 (.351) in games decided by two runs or less, a mark only better than Carolina in the CL (17-42, .288).

ROCKY ROAD The Dash also brought their five-game road losing streak to an end Monday. It was the club's longest skid away from BB&T Ballpark since a seven-game slump from April 13 to May 1 of 2011. Winston-Salem is still in the midst of its longest home skid since BB&T Ballpark opened, a five-game slump dating back to August 6.

CURLING TOWARD THE TOP Winston-Salem slugger Chris Curley hit his Carolina League-leading 23rd home run in the seventh inning Monday. Curley is tied for fourth in High-A baseball in homers, and the Fort Mitchell, Ky., native is only three shy of Rancho Cucamonga's Scott Schebler for the top spot. Curley also paces the CL and is third in High-A with 89 RBIs. He also leads the circuit in hits (140), runs scored (83), extra-base hits (49) and total bases (238), while his .861 OPS is good for third-highest among CL qualifiers.

GOING THROUGH DeMICHELE Dash infielder Joey DeMichele has destroyed Frederick pitching here in 2013. DeMichele boasts a .397 batting average (31-for-78) with 16 RBIs and 24 runs scored in his 18 games against the Keys. His runs total is the highest by a Dash hitter against a single foe this season. DeMichele, who stands second in the CL with 80 runs scored, owns a .219 batting average against the rest of the Carolina League.

DOSE OF COSE Winston-Salem starter Jake Cose has been one of the best pitchers in Minor League Baseball in August. Among hurlers with at least 20 innings of work this month, Cose is second with a 0.43 earned run average. He trails only Hagerstown's Brett Mooneyham, who has a 0.33 ERA (27.1 IP, 1 ER). Cose has allowed only one run on eight hits over 21 innings. This surge follows a strong July, during which Cose recorded a 3.93 ERA in six outings. The Stockton, Calif., native struggled in his first month at the High-A level in June to the tune of a 7.09 ERA.

ATOP MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL Dash infielder Micah Johnson paces all minor league players with 80 stolen bases, while he owns a share of the top spot in runs scored with 103. Within the stolen base category, Billy Hamilton of Louisville (Triple-A, Cincinnati) and Travis Jankowski of Lake Elsinore (High-A, San Diego) share second with 71. Johnson drew even with fellow White Sox farmhand Marcus Semien by scoring in Monday's third frame. Johnson and Semien are the only two players in the minors with more than 100 runs.

DASH DOTS Winston clinched the season series over the Keys with its 11th win Monday...The Dash are 2-4 in season series with one still up for grabs (Dash lead Potomac 7-6)...The Dash have four of the CL's top eight RBI men: Chris Curley (89, 1st), Jeremy Farrell (66, 5th), Courtney Hawkins (62, T-7th) and Kevan Smith (62, T-2nd).
