Salem Red Sox News Release
SALEM, VA - The Salem Red Sox, the Advanced Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, announced today that Vice President of Ticketing, Ryan Shelton, has been promoted to General Manager. As part of the transition plan, Assistant General Manager Allen Lawrence and Director of Food & Beverage Tim Anderson have both been promoted to Vice Presidents rounding out the senior leadership of the club.
Shelton has an established history of success working at multiple different teams within Minor League sports. After starting his career with the Florida Marlins as an Inside Sales Representative, his Minor League experience began with the Augusta Lynx as an Account Executive. He quickly rose to leadership positions as the Season Ticket Manager with the South Carolina Stingrays before serving as the Senior Director of Ticket Sales for the Manchester Monarchs in charge of all aspects of ticketing. Shelton was named Vice President of Ticketing in Salem this past April. In just five months, he has overseen significant growth in many areas of the business and has established strong relationships with many fans and community partners in the Roanoke Valley.
"We wanted the next GM of the Salem Red Sox to embody many of the core principles of our organization - progressive, energetic, and community-minded," said Tim Zue, Managing Director of the Salem Red Sox and Vice President of Business Development of the Boston Red Sox. "We also wanted to find a dynamic leader who will always put our fans first. After conducting a nationwide search, we are confident that we have found that person in Ryan."
"As the new GM, I am eager to help serve as one of the stewards of this rich baseball tradition that has bred Hall of Famers and has created countless memories for local fans," said Shelton. "Salem is a deeply passionate market that has embraced and supported baseball for 58 years. We will work tirelessly to continue to earn the support of our fans as we build one of the elite franchises in all of Minor League Baseball."
In addition to Shelton's promotion, the current Assistant General Manager, Allen Lawrence, has been promoted to Vice President/Assistant GM. In this expanded capacity, Lawrence will lead all aspects of sponsorship, ballpark operations, advertising & marketing, in game promotions and community relations. In addition, the current Director of Food & Beverage, Tim Anderson, has been promoted to Vice President of Operations and will now oversee finance and special events.
"We are excited to begin the next chapter of Salem Red Sox baseball with an established and proven leadership team," concluded Zue. "Ryan, Allen and Tim represent the senior leadership that will help lead Salem to new heights. Allen has been the rock of the Salem Red Sox franchise for the past 12 seasons and Tim has overseen incredible improvements in the quality of our food and beverage service over the past two seasons. All three individuals are integral members of our management team that we believe has unlimited potential."
