THE HILLCATS: Erupted for five runs in the sixth inning last night en route to a 10-0 win over the Pelicans at TicketReturn.com Field... The win matched the largest margin of victory for the Hillcats this season... OF Matt Weaver tied a season high with three RBIs and OF David Rohm scored three times... Seven of the Hillcats starting nine had multi-hit games and eight had at least one hit... RHP Greg Ross pitched six scoreless innings in the win and has now delivered eleven innings without allowing a run in Myrtle Beach this season... He and relievers LHP Chasen Shreve and RHP Brandon Cunniff combined for the shutout while keeping the Pelicans 1-through-4 batters without a hit (0-for-15)...

VS. MYRTLE BEACH: The Hillcats are 11-8 against the Pelicans this season...They are 3-6 in Myrtle Beach, winning each of the first three games of the current series...The Pelicans own the second-best home record in the Carolina League this year at 42-21...Only the Potomac Nationals are better at 45-19...Tonight is the final meeting between these two clubs...Pitching has dominated this series as the Hillcats hold a 3.28 ERA and the Pelicans boast a 3.37 ERA in the season-series...

BASH AT THE BEACH: The Hillcats tallied 15 hits last night in a 10-0 win over the Pelicans...Eight Hillcats recorded hits, seven of whom collected multiple hits...The 10-run win matched the biggest winning margin for the Hillcats this season..They also beat the Carolina Mudcats 10-0 on July 1...Lynchburg has now won three in a row in Myrtle Beach after losing their first six matchups in South Carolina this season...

HIGH FIVE! IT'S NICE!: Last night's win was the fifth in a row for the Hillcats...It's their first five-game winning streak of the season...They had five four-game winning streaks prior to their current streak...They have also won nine of their last 10 games...Prior to this stretch, they hadn't even won six of seven...

BACK IN THE BLACK: Lynchburg's overall record improved to 62-61 last night putting them back above .500 for the first time since they were 38-37 after a loss on June 26...Prior to June 26, the ‘Cats were only under .500 on the season at 0-1, 7-8, and 8-9...

WINNING ON THE ROAD: The Hillcats have now won four straight road games going back to a series finale win in Wilmington August 10...This ties their longest road winning streak of the season...The only other time they've accomplised this feat was when they swept the Carolina Mudcats at Five County Stadium May 10-13...The Hillcats finish their series in Myrtle Beach tonight and will travel to Zebulon, NC to play the Mudcats tomorrow...

THE RISE OF ROHM: OF David Rohm is batting .305 this season recording two more hits last night...He currently ranks tied for fifth in batting in the Carolina League...He extended his hitting streak to five games last night, batting .474 (9-for-19) with two doubles, a triple, two RBI, six runs scored...On fire in August, Rohm has eight multi-hit games and is batting .377 with four doubles, four triples, 11 RBI, and 10 runs scored in 18 games...He has eight triples on the season, second-most in the circuit...

ROSS LOVES THE BEACH: RHP Greg Ross tossed six scoreless innings last night continuing his dominance in Myrtle Beach...He has made two starts at TicketReturn.com Field and hasn't allowed a run in 12 innings, allowing just six hits, walking none, and striking out nine...He also gave up just one run in seven innings against the Pelicans in Lynchburg...Overall he is 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA against the Birds...He has struck out 13 and walked only two in his three starts...

JOINING THE 30 CLUB: OF Matt Lipka stole his 31st base of the season last night...He has now stolen eight bases in his last nine games...This is the first time in his four years as a pro that he has stolen 30 bases or more in a single season...His previous career-high was 28 with Low-A Rome in 2011...He now ranks fourth in the Carolina League in steals...He has five multi-steal efforts this year, including a career-best three steal game on August 11...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Kevin Pucetas was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 17th round of the 2006 draft out of Limestone College (Gaffney, SC)...He made his professional debut with short-season Salem-Kaiser in 2006 and advanced to Triple-A Fresno by 2009...He spet 2010 with Fresno as well before being traded as a player to be named later to the Kansas City Royals in the deal that sent OF Jose Guillen to San Francisco...He played with Triple-A Omaha for the Royals in 2011 and then split time between Double-A and Triple-A for the Washington Nationals in 2012...The Texas Rangers signed Pucetas as minor league free agent January 16, 2013...He began the year starting for the Double--A Frisco Rough Riders in the Texas League...He went 10-8 with a 4.67 ERA in 22 appearances, 19 starts...In his final appearance with the Rough Riders he started to throw a knuckleball consistently...He was then sent down to Advanced-A Myrtle Beach where he has begun his transition to a knuckleballer...Pucetas has racked up a few honors in his career including being named to the Futures game in 2008...MLB.com also named him the Class A Starting Pitcher of the Year in 2007...
