Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (MAY 19, 2011) - The Winston-Salem Dash will host their annual "MVP Day at the Ballpark" on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on the field and concourse at BB&T Ballpark. The carnival-like event is the culmination of the MVP Education Program that reaches almost 34,000 students from nearly 80 schools in eight surrounding Triad counties.

Saturday's MVP Day at the Ballpark includes the opportunities for some students to play various games on the field with Winston-Salem Dash players, and get autographs from the team. The Dash mascot, Bolt, and the Dash Pack will also be participating in the event.

Members of the media are welcome to cover the event, and may speak with Gerri Brommer, Vice President of Sponsor Services, and/or players who will be at the event. Media requests can be directed to Alex Vispoli, Director of Media Relations, or Andrew Africk, Media Relations Assistant.

Each of the schools involved with the program were given 25 MVP Day passes to give out to their highest-achieving students. The MVP Education Program is an incentive-based program that encourages students to strive for academic excellence. Each student is assigned individual goals based on criteria determined by their teachers, with the goal to advance one base with each goal met. When students reach a base, they're rewarded with prizes.

The 2011 MVP Education Program is made possible by BB&T, Hanesbrands Inc., Chick-fil-A, Dewey's Bakery, and Coach America.
