Frederick Keys News Release
The Potomac Nationals emphatically defeated the Keys (22-17) in the finale of their four-game series on Thursday afternoon. The P-Nats hit six home runs in the game and cruised to a 14-6 victory in Frederick. In the losing effort, 3B Buck Britton drove in three runs. Britton currently leads the Carolina League with 30 RBI and has driven in 20 runs over his last eight games.
After a scoreless first inning, DH J.P. Ramirez started off the top of the second with a bang. Ramirez hit a solo homer to right field off RHP Ryan O'Shea. After the Nationals plated two more runs in the inning, RF Destin Hood blasted a three-run shot to centerfield to make it a six run second for the P-Nats.
Frederick responded with three runs in the bottom of the second off LHP Danny Rosenbaum including a two-run double by Buck Britton. The Nationals, however, erased the Keys three runs with three of their own in the top of the third. C Brian Peacock lined an O'Shea offering of the right field fence for a two-run homer and SS Francisco Soriano scored later in the inning on a throwing error by CF Miguel Abreu.
After three innings on Thursday, Ryan O'Shea was relieved by LHP Will Startup. O'Shea allowed nine runs, eight earned, on seven hits while walking two and striking out one. Over O'Shea's first six starts of the season, he had allowed a combined seven runs.
The Potomac onslaught continued as 1B Justin Bloxom hit a solo home run in the fourth, 3B Jose Lozada added a solo shot in the fifth, and CF Eury Perez capped off the homerfest with a three-run long ball in the seventh. In all, the Nationals had six home runs and scored a season-high 14 runs in the game.
Danny Rosenbaum improved to 2-1 on the season while Adam Olbrychowski notched his first save of the season after tossing 3.1 scoreless innings of relief.
Ryan O'Shea fell to 3-2 on the season.
