Peoria Rivermen News Release

Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced Saturday that the club has recalled defenseman Daryl Boyle from Peoria's ECHL affiliate, the Alaska Aces.

Boyle, 23, attended training camp with the St. Louis Blues and the Peoria Rivermen before he was assigned to Alaska on Oct. 3. He played in one game for the Aces, Friday's season-opener, and recorded the game-winning goal 40 seconds into overtime to help Alaska beat Utah 3-2.

Boyle played in the final 20 games of the 2009-10 season with the Rivermen after the team acquired him in a trade from the Rockford IceHogs on March 1. He registered nine points (four goals, five assists) and a plus-8 rating while with the Rivermen. He finished the season with 29 points (eight goals, 21 assists) and plus-5 in his 72 games between Peoria and Rockford.

He began his professional career with a six-game stint with the Norfolk Admirals in 2007-08 and appeared in 70 games for the club in 2008-09. He led all Norfolk rookie scorers in points (15) and assists (13) that season and overall has appeared in 125 AHL games over his career.

A native of Sparwood, BC, Boyle played four seasons for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League where they reached the postseason every year.

The Rivermen faceoff against the Houston Aeros on Saturday in the second game of their seven- game road trip at 7:35. The game can be heard on 96.5 ESPN Radio in Peoria on online through www.rivermen.net.
