
P-Bruins Fall To Monarchs 5-2

Manchester, NH - The Providence Bruins fell to the Manchester Monarchs 5-2 Saturday evening at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The P-Bruins got their goals from Jamie Arniel and Jordan LaVallee-Smotherman. The P-Bruins are back at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday for Magnet Schedule Night at 4:05 p.m. against the Hartford Wolf Pack.
The Monarchs took a 1-0 lead at the 19:51 mark of the opening period. Corey Elkins tallied his second goal of the season, while Oscar Moller and Bud Holloway recorded the assists. Manchester went into the first intermission leading 1-0.
Manchester made it 2-0 at the 19:26 mark of the second period. The Monarchs were awarded a penalty shot and Brandon Kozun scored his first goal of the season. Manchester led 2-0 going into the second intermission.
The P-Bruins pulled within a goal at the 8:27 mark of the third period, while on the power play. Matt Bartkowski had the puck at the point and worked it to Steven Kampfer. He took a shot and Arniel was there to put the rebound into the net for his first goal of the season. Providence tied the game at two at the 11:11 mark. Arniel dug the puck out of the corner and sent it to Jeremy Reich behind the net. He found LaVallee-Smotherman in the slot, who netted his first goal of the season. Manchester retook the lead at the 13:08 mark, while on the power play. David Meckler scored his third goal of the season, with David Kolomatis and Patrick Mullen picking up the assists. The Monarchs took a two-goal advantage at the 15:22 mark. Kozen netted his second goal of the game, while Moller added the lone assist. Manchester finished off the scoring at the 19:25 mark. Dwight King tallied his third goal of the season, with Meckler and John Zeiler getting the assists. The Monarchs held on for the 5-2 victory.
Nolan Schaefer stopped 34 of 38 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jeff Zatkoff made 28 saves for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins wrap up next weekend at The Dunk Sunday for Magnet Schedule Night at 4:05 p.m. against the Wolf Pack.
