Pirates Double Falcons for Fourth Straight Win

PORTLAND, ME - Luke Adam collected a goal and three assists and Mark Mancari supplied two goals and an assist to Lead the Portland Pirates to a 4-2 win over the Springfield Falcons in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,600 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Dennis McCauley added the other goal for the Pirates, who improved to 4-0-0-0 with the win. The four straight victories represents the best winning start in Pirates franchise history, bettering a three game winning streak to start the 1994-95 season.

Tom Sestito and Nick Holden scored for the Falcons, who dropped to 2-3-0-0 on the season.

Adam and Mancari sandwiched goals around a goal by Sestito to give the Pirates a 2-1 advantage after one. McCauley, with his second in as many games, netted the lone goal of the second to give the Pirates a 3-1 lead heading into the third. Mancari added his second of the night eight minutes into the third before Holden struck to make things interesting with four minutes remaining in regulation.

The Falcons outshot the Pirates 38-26 in the game as Jhonas Enroth posted the victory.

The Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the game were all from the Pirates. Mancari was the first, Enroth the second and Adam the third.

The Pirates complete a stretch of four games in five days Tuesday when the Manchester Monarchs visit the Cumberland County Civic Center for a 6:30 p.m. start.
