d'Arnaud's Home Run Leads Sounds Comeback

MEMPHIS - Down 3-1 in the fifth, Chase d'Arnaud tied the game up with a two-run homer to make it a brand-new ballgame. The Sounds would score in the eighth and ninth inning to win 5-3.

The first batter Nashville faced was Tommy Edman, who hit a solo home run to lead off the game for Memphis to give the early 1-0 lead.

Patrick Wisdom led the top of the second with a single, who would eventually score on a single by Eli White to tie the game up.

Memphis would score two in the bottom of the third inning to put the Redbirds up 3-1. Ramon Urias and Edman both scored on an Andrew Knizner double, his first of two on the day.

d'Arnaud would tie it up 3-3 in the top of the fifth. After Jose Trevino led off with a single, d'Arnaud hit the two-run home run that knotted the game up.

The game stayed tied until the top of the eighth. Delino DeShields led off with a walk and reached second on a sacrifice bunt by Willie Calhoun. DeShields stole third base and Andy Ibanez hit him in on a sacrifice fly to center. It was 4-3, Sounds.

The Redbirds would threaten with two runners in the bottom of eighth, but Jake Lemoine would send down the next two hitters to maintain the lead.

Eli White would get an insurance run with a solo home run in the ninth inning to deliver the dagger as Nashville breaks their three-game losing streak to win 5-3.

The series finale is tomorrow at 11:05 a.m., where Nashville's Wes Benjamin (1-4, 9.45) will be dueling Memphis' Jake Woodford (2-0, 2.04). The Sounds will get a day off before they begin a five-game series on Thursday.

Post-Game Notes

With today's 5-3 win, the Sounds improve to 13-24 on the season.

David Carpenter recorded his fifth save of the season and his tenth-straight shutout inning. He has the longest scoreless innings streak for the Sounds this season.

Willie Calhoun extended his league-leading hitting streak to 14 games with a single in the third inning. He is batting .354 (17-for-48) with 9 runs, 2 doubles, 5 home runs, 12 RBI and 12 walks.

Zack Granite also extended his hitting streak to 10 games with two hits today. Granite is hitting .474 (18-for-38) with 7 runs scored and 3 RBI during his nine-game hitting streak.

Jeffrey Springs earned his third win of the season. He is now tied for the team lead.
