Asheville Tourists News Release

ASHEVILLE - The Asheville Tourists took some steps in the right direction on Thursday night with a season-high six runs courtesy of three long balls. Unfortunately for the home team, it was not enough. The Greenville Drive erased a pair of three-run deficits and defeated the Tourists 9-6.

Asheville's Chayce McDermott made his McCormick Field debut and pitched very well. Chayce notched seven strikeouts over the first four innings and received some early run support. Zach Daniels hit a Home Run to left field in the bottom of the first inning and Nerio Rodriguez added a two-run blast in the second.

Greenville managed to tie the game with one in the third and two more runs in the fifth. Will Wagner put the Tourists back in front with a three-run Home Run to deep centerfield in the bottom of the fifth. Asheville would only manage one more hit in the game.

The Drive rallied to tie the game with three runs in the top of the seventh. They continued their momentum with an RBI Fielder's Choice in the eighth to take their first lead 7-6. Two more insurance runs were added in the ninth.

Adrian Chaidez, Danny Cody, and Cole McDonald all had bright spots pitching out of the Tourists bullpen. Offensively, Deury Carrasco chipped in two of Asheville's season-high seven hits.

The Tourists and the Drive will square off in Game Four of their current series on Friday night at 6:35pm.
