Hickory Crawdads News Release
Hickory, NC - The Crawdads capitalized on an early lack of control by Bowling Green's pitching staff, but were unable to hold onto the lead, ultimately falling 8-4 to the Hot Rods.
The 'Dads got on the board quickly, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead. Aaron Zavala singled and stole second to get into scoring position. Cristian Inoa, Trevor Hauver, Keyber Rodriguez, and Chris Seise all drew consecutive walks to bring in the two runs.
Crawdads starting pitcher Nick Krauth allowed four runs in the third to put the 'Dads behind.
In the bottom half of the third, the Crawdads got back a run. Inoa doubled and came around to score on a Rodriguez ground out and a fielding error on the play.
Krauth finished his evening after the fourth, walking none and striking out five.
Neither team got any more runs across until the eighth inning when Bowling Green scored four off Eris Filpo.
Jake Guenther hit a leadoff homer in the ninth inning to bring the score to 8-4 but the Crawdads were unable to get any more across.
