Portland Sea Dogs News Release

Portland, Maine - The Sea Dogs (10-18) rallied off of the New Hampshire bullpen and pulled away with a 4-2 win over the Fisher Cats (13-17) in the series opener on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.

Portland couldn't touch New Hampshire starter Nate Pearson, who was making his Double-A debut. Pearson worked five scoreless and allowed just two hits while fanning eight.

Yennsy Diaz (L, 2-3) entered the game for the 'Cats in the sixth and the Sea Dogs' bats came to life. Tate Matheny led off the inning with a double, then CJ Chatham singled him home to cut the deficit to 2-1. After a walk by Cody Asche and a sac bunt by Brett Netzer, Bobby Dalbec drilled a two-run triple to the gap in right-center to give Portland a 3-2 lead.

The Dogs added another run in the sixth on an RBI single by Asche to score Marcus Wilson.

Kyle Hart (W, 2-4) was finally able to get some run support and was credited with the win. The southpaw allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in six innings with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Andrew Schwaab worked two scoreless innings in relief of Hart. Jordan Weems (SV, 2) earned the save with a perfect ninth.

Due to a one hour and 17 minute rain delay, Dustin Pedroia was scratched from the lineup, he's scheduled to play on Wednesday night.

The Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays affiliate) continue their three-game series on Wednesday night with a 6:00 PM first pitch at Hadlock Field. RHP Denyi Reyes (0-4, 7.03) takes on RH Andrew Sopko (2-2, 2.73). Radio coverage on the WPEI U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs Radio Network begins at 5:45 PM.
