New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH - The Toronto Blue Jays have promoted their top pitching prospect, RHP Nate Pearson, to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

Pearson, a first-round pick (28th overall) in the 2017 MLB Draft, is scheduled to make his Double-A debut on Tuesday night, when the Fisher Cats head to Portland to take on the Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox affiliate).

Through six dominant starts in Advanced-A Dunedin, the 22-year-old went 3-0 with an 0.86 ERA. In 21 innings, he struck out a jaw-dropping 35 batters with only 10 hits, three walks and two runs allowed. Opponents have been held to a .139 batting average against Pearson, who regularly hits triple digits on the radar gun.

MLB.com ranks Pearson as the top pitching prospect in the Blue Jays organization, and the third in the system overall behind Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Pearson is listed as the No. 72 prospect in all of baseball, three spots ahead of Red Sox rookie Michael Chavis.

The 6'6", 245 lb. right-hander was born in Odessa, FL, and was drafted out of the Junior College of Central Florida.

Pearson is scheduled to start Tuesday night's game in Portland, which is the first game of a six-game road trip for the Fisher Cats. The team will return home on Monday, May 13 to start a three-game series with the Reading Fightin Phils (Philadelphia Phillies) at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
