Dahl CHL Rookie of the Year
March 24, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
Having led the Central Hockey League's rookie scoring race for much of the season, Tulsa Oilers center Jim Dahl also led another rookie race, and has been voted the league's Rookie of the Year.
Dahl was selected in balloting conducted among CHL coaches, communications staff representatives and selected media members from each CHL city. Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, Dahl leads all CHL rookies with 81 points and 35 goals. He also is tied for the league lead in shorthanded goals with six.
"We've felt all along that Jim should be the leading candidate for rookie of the year, and that's not to take away from the other players. There's a lot of great young players in the league," Oilers coach Butch Kaebel said. "But Jim has excelled at everything we've asked him to do and become a great leader on and off the ice. He's put up great offensive numbers without sacrificing any of the solid defensive play we knew he'd give us. We're glad the rest of the league has recognized his accomplishments as well."
Dahl joins Oilers equipment manager Steve Enlow as a league wide award winner this season. Enlow won the Gunner Garrett award as the equipment manager of the year.
The Oilers return to action Friday March 24th against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at 7:35. That will be Cox Communications rally towel night, with the first 1,000 fans receiving a free towel from Cox Communications.
