Odessa, TX - Sebastien Thinel celebrated his 25th birthday with two goals and an assist as the MVP finalist helped the Odessa Jackalopes top the Corpus Christi Rayz 5-3 Friday night in the final meeting of the season. The Rayz will now head home on Saturday night for their home finale on "Pack the House for Charity" Night at 7:30pm against the Laredo Bucks.

The Jacks got on the board at 6:06 of the first period when Sebastien Thinel poked the puck home from the top of the crease to make the score 1-0. Thinel's goal was his 39th of the season. The Rayz answered just 80 seconds later to tie the game. Right off a face-off, Randy Muprhy won a draw back to Josh Miskovich who beat Derek Dolson with a shot at 7:26. Miskovich's 12th goal of the season leads all Rayz rookies. The Jacks recaptured the lead when John Kozoriz skated in front of Scott Reid to redirect a Scott Hillman shot into the net for a 2-1 Odessa lead. The Rayz trailed by a goal after one, despite outshooting the Jacks 15-10 in the opening period.

The Rayz tied the game at 2-2 early in the second. Mike Rees scored his third goal of the season on a drop feed from Randy Murphy at 3:39. Just 26 seconds later Dominic Leveille recaptured the lead for the Jackalopes with his 26th goal of the season. The Jacks took their first two-goal lead on Thinel's second of the night at 14:31 to make the score 4-2. The Jacks outshot the Rayz 15-12 in the second period.

The Rayz pulled within one in the third period when Tim Laurila scored off the bottom of the cross bar on a perfectly placed shot from the right circle at 10:18. The goal made the score 4-3 Jackalopes, but was as close as the Rayz would come. Dennis Maxwell scored an empty net goal at 19:18 to seal the 5-3 victory for Odessa.

The Rayz loss dropped their record to 22-35-5. The Jacks win improved their record to 35-21-6. Scott Reid took the loss, falling to 15-18-3. Dolson earned the win, vaulting his record to 9-5-1. The Rayz outshot the Jackalopes 38-30. The Rayz finished the season series with Odessa with a 1-4-1 record. Friday's loss marked the 20th one goal (not including empty net goals) game the Rayz have lost this season. The Rayz went 0-6 on the power play. The Jacks went 0-5.

The Corpus Christi Rayz are thrilled to present the second annual "Pack the House for Charity" Night at the American Bank Center on Saturday at 7:35pm in the final home game of the Rayz season. In conjunction with Fan Appreciation Night, the Rayz will host their biggest rivals, the Laredo Bucks while showing their appreciation to the fans and South Texas Community. The Rayz will attempt to "pack the American Bank Center" with fans and help raise money for three very deserving youth based organizations in Corpus Christi. The Rayz have joined forces with the Boys and Girls Club of Corpus Christi, the Nueces Child Welfare Foundation and the Corpus Christi Youth Hockey Association for the charity event. The Rayz will provide a cash grant and a portion of ticket sales to each of these groups.
