RiverKings explode for seven goals in spoiler's role

Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN --- The Memphis RiverKings handed the Austin Ice Bats a setback to their Southern Conference playoff hopes on Friday night with a decisive 7-1 win at the DeSoto Civic Center. The Ice Bats came in controlling their playoff destiny, but that has changed after Friday. For the RiverKings, the win snapped a six-game winless streak and got them back to .500 at home at 15-15-1.
Darrell Stoddard scored twice with Travis Banga and Derek Landmesser each finishing with a goal and three assists while Goalie Guy St. Vincent defeated his former roommate.
Like Thursday night, Memphis jumped out 2-0 in the first period. Stoddard got the two, his first at 5:43 on a redirection of a Derek Landmesser wrist shot and then at 6:56 on a drive right off of the face-off. Austin's only offense was from leading scorer John McNabb. His shorthanded goal at 8:30 of the first made the score 2-1.
Banga put the lead back to two when he swatted an airborne puck just below waist level after a Stoddard blast hit the pipe. His team high 33rd of season put the score at 3-1 to end the period
After a scoreless second period, Memphis matched a season high for goals in a period with four in the third. Paul Mcbrien, Don Parsons, Ryan Campbell and Derek Landmesser all scored to put the game away.
St. Vincent stopped 32 of 33 Austin shots while former New Mexico and Memphis teammate Miguel Beaudry faced 49 shots and stopped 42.
The RiverKings' win over the Ice Bats was their first over a team other than Youngstown since 1/22 versus Rio Grande Valley at the DCC.
Due to the loss and Amarillo's win over Rio Grande Valley, the Ice Bats need some help now to make the postseason.
The RiverKings will conclude their regular season with Fan Appreciation Night tomorrow night with the Tulsa Oilers providing the opposition. The puck drops at 7:05 and the first 1,000 fans receive DAC/RiverKings T-shirts.
