CHARLESTON, SC - The 1st-Half Northern Division Champion Hickory Crawdads topped the Charleston RiverDogs, 4-1, before 2,508 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park on Monday night.

Both teams' starting pitchers -- RHP Cody Buckel for Hickory and RHP Shane Greene for Charleston -- alternated five scoreless innings apiece. Buckel struck out nine through his five, scattering just five hits and one walk. Greene finished with six strikeouts and three walks, along with five hits allowed. Both logged no-decisions.

The RiverDogs (48-72, 22-28) cracked the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning against RHP Ben Rowen (W, 4-4). 1B Kevin Mahoney led off with a single and advanced all the way to third on a double by RF Kelvin De Leon. Mahoney charged in the final ninety feet on an RBI ground out by C Kyle Higashioka to make it 1-0.

The Crawdads (67-51, 27-23) responded right away in the top of the seventh against RHP Tommy Kahnle (L, 2-5). With one out, CF Braxton Lane and SS Jurickson Profar drew consecutive walks, putting runners at first and second base. DH Jake Skole drove an RBI ground-rule double that bounced over the right-center field wall to score Lane and tie it at 1-1. 2B Odubel Herrera lifted Hickory into the 3-1 lead by ripping a two-run double to right field, bringing in both Profar and Skole. Herrera advanced to third on an error, then streaked home on an RBI single by LF Alejandro Selen, capping the rally and stretching the Crawdads lead to 4-1.

RHP Jose Monegro made his Crawdads debut and dealt two scoreless innings, before RHP Franciso Mendoza (S, 2) tossed a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth, slamming the door on the RiverDogs in the 4-1 win for Hickory.
