
D-Fenders Win Big vs. Reno

EL SEGUNDO - Vander Blue scored a season-high 40 points tonight as the D-Fenders beat the Reno Bighorns 131-116 in El Segundo, CA.
Vander Blue (40 points, six assists) paced the D-Fenders (10-12). Justin Harper notched two season highs with 25 points and 16 rebounds. Ryan Gomes saw extended minutes for the first time with the D-Fenders, tallying 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Justin Hawkins notched a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Andre Ingram (15 points) and Josh Magette (12 points, 8 assists) also scored in double-figures for Los Angeles.
Vincent Hunter (26 points, 8 rebounds) and Reggie Hearn (21 points, 8 rebounds) led the Bighorns (13-9), while Chad Toppert (18 points), Erick Green (16 points) and Mark Tyndale (14 points) all scored in double-digits for Reno.
Los Angeles got the scoring started early, leading 40-28 at the end of the first quarter. Harper scored 11 points in the first, while Blue and Ingram each had nine. The second quarter was much of the same, with the D-Fenders outscoring the Bighorns 36-24 behind 13 points from Hawkins. At the half, the D-Fenders had a season-high 76 points, taking a 76-52 lead into the second half.
Reno came out strong in the third quarter, outscoring Los Angeles 37-31 in the quarter behind nine points from Toppert. The Bighorns continued to fight back in the fourth, outscoring the D-Fenders 27-24. Blue scored 18 in the quarter, as the D-Fenders held on to win 131-116. The 131 points is a season-high for Los Angeles.
The D-Fenders shot .484 from the field, compared to .488 for Reno. Los Angeles finished 18-of-38 from three-point range, while the Bighorns shot 13-of-34. Los Angeles outrebounded Reno 51-35, outscoring the Bighorns 25-7 in second chance points.
Los Angeles hosts the Austin Spurs on Saturday at 6:30pm PT in El Segundo.
