Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - The BayHawks and Knicks traded baskets through much of the first quarter after the BayHawks jumped out to a small lead to begin the game. Erie was unable to pull away despite eight points from Devyn Marble and seven from Jordan Sibert because of 60% shooting from the Knicks. The BayHawks widened the gap from Westchester by as much as nine in the second quarter but let the Knicks right back in it on a 6-0 run to close the half. Jimmer Fredette capped the run with a floater as time expired.
Westchester opened the second half with a 14-0 run. Alex Davis had a strong put- back layup but the BayHawks weren't able to get on the board again until the 5:11 mark on two Davis free throws. Heading into the fourth down 70-79, Jordan Sibert got the hot hand and knocked down three three-pointers and two free throws to total 11 points in the quarter. Fredette was fouled twice in the last two minutes of the game to pull the Knicks back on top 86-89 with 1:30 remaining. Sibert answered with a three to tie the game, 89-89. In the go-ahead Knicks possession, Myck Kabongo came up with the ball on a bad Fredette pass and lobbed it ahead to Ejim. Ejim missed his dunk attempt but was fouled by Thanasis Antetokounmpo. He knocked down both free throws with 1.4 seconds left to seal the game.
Travis Trice II paced the Knicks with 24 points. Fredette had 22 points of his own to go with nine assists. Jordan Bachynski added 13 points and seven rebounds.
Sibert had a team-high 18 points on four of eight from behind the arc. Devyn Marble had 17 points and four rebounds. Melvin Ejim nearly notched a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds to go with his game-winning free throws.
