The Canton Charge (10-11), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, defeated the Maine Red Claws (12-9), 105-93, in the NBA D-League's debut on ESPN U. The victory was Canton's fifth-straight, extending their longest winning streak of the season.
Quinn Cook netted a game-high 25 points on 11-of-19 shooting with six assists in 30 minutes. Nick Minnerath came off the bench to score 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting in 31 minutes. Chicago Bulls assignee Cristiano Felicio posted 12 points, eight boards, and two blocks in 20 minutes. John Holland scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 28 minutes for Canton.
The Charge led wire-to-wire for the game and by as many as 25 in the game after beginning the game on a 13-2 run. Canton only took three free throws in the game, but won the battle in rebounds, assists, steals, and turnovers to control the game. The Charge scored 64 points in the paint, hitting 32-of-55 attempts inside.
Boston Celtics assignee Jordan Mickey scored 13 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and swatted eight blocks to lead Maine. Malcolm Miller scored 23 points on 5-fo-7 three-point shooting and seven boards in 38 minutes. Celtics assisgnee Terry Rozier added 16 points for the Red Claws.
The two teams will meet again in Maine tomorrow night at 8:00 p.m. live on YouTube.
