Washington, D.C. (July 19, 2010) - D.C. United today announced plans for the club's U-20 team to host NPSL side Chattanooga Football Club. The game, presented by Volkswagen, features two clubs sponsored by the automotive giant and is a shining example of the company's commitment to American soccer at all levels. The friendly will be played July 24 at RFK Stadium. Kick-off is set for 5:00 p.m., prior to United's first-team match with famed English side Portsmouth F.C. Tickets to the double-header are available at dcunited.com and all Ticketmaster outlets.

"D.C. United is thrilled to partner with Volkswagen on a host of quality soccer and community events throughout the year," said United President and CEO Kevin Payne. "This game provides United local soccer fans the opportunity to see promising young players showcase their talents in a truly historic soccer venue."

"Volkswagen is a proud supporter of soccer both globally and domestically," added Tim Ellis, Vice President of Marketing, Volkswagen of America, Inc. "With our US headquarters in the DC metro area and our new state-of-the-art production facility in Chattanooga, this match is particularly special to us."

Chattanooga F.C. comes into the match 10-1-3 in its previous 14 games, including an impressive 2-1 victory over F.C. Atlas U23 of Mexico's Primera Division. The club has created a strong following of loyal fans, self-dubbed "Chattahooligans," and lead the NPSL in attendance this season, averaging just over 4,000 fans per game.

"We would like to congratulate Chattanooga FC for winning the NPSL South Division title and would like to thank our colleagues in DC Metro for offering this exciting opportunity to the Chattanooga FC," said Guenther Scherelis, General Manager of Communication for the Chattanooga manufacturing facility.

"We're honored to be a part of the Volkswagen family of soccer clubs around the world," said Sheldon Grizzle, Director of Communications for Chattanooga F.C. "Volkswagen has been a vital part of our success on and off the pitch since our founding in 2009. Our organization is grateful to Volkswagen for making this friendly possible with D.C. United and look forward to working together as we hope to make the city of Chattanooga the soccer hub of the southeast."
