July 7, 2018 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Asheville Tourists News Release
ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists won their fifth straight contest on Saturday night with a 10-5 drubbing over the Greenville Drive. Todd Czinege and Chad Spanberger each went 4-for-5 in the victory.
Czinege finished a double shy of the cycle. The first-baseman hit a two-run triple in the first; a solo Home Run in the fifth, and singles in the third and eighth innings. Spanberger singled in three trips to the plate, doubled once, drove in a pair, and stole a base.
Garrett Schilling earned the win by tossing five frames. Schilling limited the Drive to three hits and only one earned run. Asheville's Erick Julio tossed three shutout innings in relief of Schilling.
Asheville built a big lead early. The Tourists plated seven runs over the first three innings. Ryan Vilade's second inning RBI single and Ramon Marcelino's two-run Home Run helped build the early advantage.
Asheville continued to tack on runs and built a 10-2 lead. With two outs in the top of the ninth, Ryan Fitzgerald hit a three-run Home Run to make the score look more respectable. All three of those runs were unearned.
The Tourists finished with six extra-base hits and recorded a total of 13 hits off the Drive starter Enmanuel De Jesus.
