ABOUT LAST GAME: Scott Manea, Jeremy Vasquez, and Blake Tiberi combined for seven of Columbia's 12 hits on Friday. The Fireflies dropped the series finale, 7-3, to the Drive at Spirit Communications Park. Zac Grotz made his fourth start and matched a season-high eight strikeouts over just five frames.

SUPERHERO NIGHT: The Fireflies are wearing specialty jerseys for Saturday's game against the RiverDogs. Marvel illustrator Sanford Greene, a South Carolina native, designed a "Firefly Superhero" that's enlarged on the front of the jerseys. These jerseys are being auctioned off with the proceeds benefitting HOPE Worldwide.

HERE WE GO AGAIN: Blake Tiberi singled three times on Friday. The second baseman has now reached base safely in 19 straight games. He's not the only 2018 Firefly with a lengthy on-base streak:

THE FUTURE: Andres Gimenez was selected to join the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Nationals Park on July 15. The former Firefly will represent "Team World" in a game that features the top Minor League prospects. Gimenez is currently listed as the Mets #1 prospect, according to MLB.com. Here's what the 19-year-old did with Columbia in 2017:

- .265 average, 9 doubles, 4 home runs, 14 stolen bases (92 games)

TEXT TO GIVE: Columbia's specialty stars and stripes jerseys worn by the players on Wednesday were auctioned off to fans and 100% of the proceeds benefitting South Carolina's veterans in need through RIP Medical Debt. More than $8,000 was raised from the jersey auction alone. The goal is to raise $12,500 and as a result nearly $800,000 of South Carolina's veteran's medical debt will be erased. The initiative is made possible through RIP Medical Debt and everyone can still text to donate so the Fireflies' goal can be reached: text Fireflies to 50155 and wait for instructions. The text to give ends July 9. The campaign will continue until we raise the money.
