
Sotillet Shines in Complete Game Shutout

WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK (Lexington, KY) - The Lexington Legends welcomed in the Greensboro Grasshoppers and took game one, 5-0. The Legends were led by Andres Sotillet who pitched his second career complete game.
Sotillet pitched his second career complete game shutout since August 10, 2016. He tossed 9.0 innings for Lexington allowing seven hits and striking out 10. He did not allow a free pass. His record now improves to 6-5 and ERA sits at 3.93.
The Legends started things off with a bang in the bottom of the first inning. Brewer Hicklen and MJ Melendez hit back-to-back home runs to put Lexington up, 2-0.
In the bottom of the second, Cal Jones singled to left field then moved to second on a fielding error by Greensboro. Hicklen then drew a walk to put two runners on base. Melendez smacked a two-run double to deep right centerfield, extending Lexington's lead 4-0.
The Legends plated their final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Marten Gasparini drew the leadoff walk then moved to second on a wild pitch. Ricky Aracena then advanced Gasparini to third on a single. Gasparini then scored on a groundout by Melendez and the Legends held on to the 5-0 victory.
The Legends and Grasshoppers will meet for game two tomorrow, July 8 at 2:05 p.m. Lexington will send RHP Yefri Del Rosario (0-4, 6.95 ERA) to face Greensboro's RHP Brandon Miller (2-8, 5.83 ERA). It's a Sunday dedicated to the kids, beginning when gates open at 12:30 p.m. for Playtime on the Outfield for families to play catch on the field until 1:00 p.m. All kids in attendance are then invited to come on to the field and participate in a pregame player high five tunnel as the Legends take the field! Children should report to the 1st base breezeway upon arrival. Kids also get in FREE courtesy of JiF!
